Why we exist
High craft for people who deserve better software.
Most health apps are built for the easy cases — the predictable cycles, the single-pill regimens, the users who fit neatly into a database schema. Women dealing with HRT, menopause, complex conditions, or just messy reality get left behind.
Forgeyard Digital builds the apps that handle the hard cases. Apps that model cyclical phased HRT schedules, that explain unfamiliar medical terminology, that respect privacy without treating it as a marketing line. Apps you can trust when the stakes are personal.
We also take on bespoke iOS work for clients who need the same rigour: native Swift and SwiftUI, clean architecture, proper accessibility, onshore accountability. We're a small studio, which means we're selective — and fully invested in the work we commit to.
Our values
What guides the work.
Craft over speed
We take the time to get the interface right, the language medically careful, the edge cases handled. Shipping fast doesn't matter if users don't trust it.
Privacy by design
Health data stays on-device. No accounts, no analytics on symptoms, no selling. Privacy isn't a feature — it's the foundation.
Accessibility isn't optional
VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, readable contrast, sensible tap targets. We build for everyone, including women using assistive tech.
Honest communication
No dark patterns, no misleading claims, no hiding costs behind trial timers. Women deserve to make informed decisions.
Onshore accountability
UK-based studio, real contact details, a founder you can reach. When you email us, a human replies.
Built to last
Clean architecture, comprehensive tests, maintainable code. We're not chasing exits — we're building software that keeps working.
How we work
What you can expect.
We're a small studio. That means direct access to the people building your product, no account managers translating requirements through layers, and full continuity from discovery through to App Store.
For our own apps: We start with a real problem (usually one we've lived ourselves), prototype ruthlessly, test with women who'll actually use it, and ship when it's genuinely ready — not when a roadmap says so.
For client work: We work with organisations who need native iOS expertise they can rely on. Fixed-price projects for defined scope, or retained partnerships for ongoing development. We don't take on work we can't do well, and we won't overpromise to win a pitch.

The founder
Who's building this.
Jane McKay
Founder & iOS Developer
I spent eight years at Dyson, finishing as a Senior Software Engineering Manager. I led iOS teams, shipped firmware for connected products, and learned what rigorous engineering looks like at scale.
Then I went on HRT and couldn't find a single app that handled the complexity properly. So I built HRTMe — for myself first, then for the 1,400+ women who found it and stayed. Forgeyard Digital is where that work continues: building apps for women whose needs don't fit the mainstream mould.
I'm based in the UK, reachable at hello@forgeyard.digital, and you can find me on LinkedIn. If you want the full story, read the interview.
Let's talk about your project.
We're selective about the work we take on, but if you're building something that deserves to be done right — get in touch.
